Museums

I will take you there

Outside of the museum, any museum, the surrounding elements are orchestrating an atmosphere of welcoming. Just like the lullaby in fairytales when it guides you through the beginning of a forest. The surrounding elements here can be buildings, art shops, or some decades’ apartments with adorable, flowery balconies. The melody of the air is seducing your eye towards the entrance of the museum — you should give in. Not give up. But surrender in the difference of the museum collection than any other construction in the block.

Do you feel the preciosity of valued and protected artifacts? Do you feel you are humble in the first steps of the art hall?

For me, it is another church. Not quite a place of worship, no. But, a place where God might walk around and admire the capabilities and magic human beings create. As they’re made of complete souls, they run around it, playing ball with the source of inspiration.

There, I will take you. For a stroll, for a meal, for a date.

The Museum of Cycladic Art

When you first enter the museum of Cycladic art, they tell you you are entering a home. I love that. A home of valuable past art with even more value in the present. The Museum is home to Cycladic vases and pottery. The surface where the earliest pieces of art were made, from the Cycladic islands.

Those islands include: Amorgos, Anafi, Andros, Antiparos, Delos, Ios, Kea, Kimolos, Kythnos, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Folegandros, Serifos, Sifnos, Sikinos, Syros, Tinos, and Thira or Santoríni. There are also many minor islands including Donousa, Eschati, Gyaros, Irakleia, Koufonisia, Makronisos, Rineia, and Schoinousa.

The islands are connected with the sea in Crete. All the islands in Greece are a sea family, truly. Only they know the secrets of living on an island, unlike the rest of us that live in cities. They know the waters intimately.
5000 years ago, the Cycladic heritage was born and formed. I would like to have taken a walk and seen their daily lives. The livelihood of the old that knew a very much different world. But yet the world is big, gigantic, enormous, richer than any self-centered, careless billionaire. So, the vases depict scenes from the women in their daily lives on the island. I see. And I smile.

My words are the words of a writer. To experience it, to see the soul of it, instead of just hearing it, I will take you there.

Archeological Museum of Lemesos

A museum in a country I have never visited and have little to no knowledge of it. Cyprus is not a village that I can gather information, visit three times, and fall in love with it. Cyprus is a country.

I know a few things about them. They are unique, they are independent, they are underrated. Only the first is my personal opinion, the rest I’ve heard.

Back to the direction of the museum. I carry your hand there and we reach closer to something that will change us forever.

The museum was founded in 1948. It’s not recent but it’s not ruined by horrific wars. Just the right year, before and after new hells.

Europe would be so lucky as to have Cyprus as a part of it.

The museum’s exhibits are housed in three rooms and are divided into three main categories.
Inside, there is pottery, jewelry, and oil lamps, as well as curiously modern-looking glass bottles and vials. Marble lives in every hint.

Aphrodite does not lack a place where the art resides. The museum holds artifacts connected to her followers. Female figurines for the fertility goddess by the deities.

How I wish to introduce us to museums. Those are the house’s ancestors that knew art in her birthing form. Impressive to make a house or a palace pretty, hiding secrets. Maybe that is why I write poetry.

Humbly, I walk and try to grasp the magnitude of treasure in the Greek museums.

If you want, I will take you there.
